Lightening and eating high energy meals is one way to contribute to a serene and simple summertime. Foothills Urogynecology encourages these simple meals to keep you on your toes this summer.
Keeping meals light can boost your health, mind and spirit. The bigger the meal, the higher our body temperature rises. This makes the body work more to digest food and raises the body’s core temperature.
A few examples of some small, high energy and healthy meals and snacks for the summer are listed below:
- Avocado salad

No need to give up those sweet cravings in the summertime. You have more than enough choices from frozen grapes, smoothies and homemade popsicles to dark chocolate and Greek yogurt. Dark chocolate contains theobromine, which can boost your energy and mood, or Greek yogurt with fresh fruit added as a breakfast meal or snack can get you through the day.
Choosing high energy foods for small meals will allow your body to keep its internal temperature cool, stay hydrated and prevent you from overeating.
